De Pijp fills up with people on six-month contracts who rent above the shops and learn the market's timetable within days. Blair lives among them. She is twenty-seven and brunette, with Romanian and English spoken in the same plain, unfussed register. Body to body is the format she is usually booked for, and it needs nothing from a flat beyond a warm room and a clear bed. Guests who plan an evening a fortnight around a posting sometimes put her name on each one, though every booking is agreed separately and she may decline any of them.
