Credit, when a booking cannot go ahead
Credit is a deposit held against a later date rather than repaid, used after a genuine disruption, or when the house cannot keep a booking and you choose it.
Sometimes a booking cannot happen and nobody is at fault. In that case the deposit is not lost. It becomes credit, held against a date you choose later.
Force majeure
Events outside either side's control, such as a transport shutdown, a serious disruption in the city or an official instruction that makes the journey impossible, turn a deposit into credit. Nothing is forfeited and there is no need to settle on a new date immediately.
What is not force majeure
A cold, a meeting that ran late, a flight moved by an airline, a project recall to head office and a change of mind all sit on the guest's side of the line. Each of those is a move or a cancellation, read on the usual notice scale described under cancellation and refunds.
When the house cannot keep a booking
If the house is unable to perform a booking, the guest decides: the deposit back in full, or held as credit for as long as it takes to choose a date. If the therapist you agreed cannot come, the house says so as soon as it knows, and you either choose from whoever is free or take the deposit back.
On a long stay
Credit is easy to use when you are in the city for months. It simply attaches to the next booking you make.
